1992 born Players in the Premier League – Who will Progress? Sunderland – Spurs

December 6, 2013

Sunderland

  1. John Egan
  2. Craig Lynch
  3. Liam Marrs
  4. Joel Dixon
  5. Alex Gorrin
  6. Billy Knott

Of these players three in Dixon, Marrs & Gorrin haven’t even played League football so they have no chance of making the step up. As for the other three, they may have league careers but it’s very unlikely that Knott, Lynch or Egan will make the 25 man Squad as they simply are nowhere near Sunderland’s Premier League side.

Swansea

  1. Lee Lucas
  2. Darnel Situ
  3. Rory Donnelly
  4. Daniel Alfei
  5. Jordi Amat
  6. Jonjo Shelvey
  7. Jernade Meade

Of this group of seven players Jonjo Shelvey and Jordi Amat are certainties to make the 25 man Squad. Rory Donnelly has been on the edge of the first team so he has a chance of making the step up or like Kyle Bartley going out on loan for a season to develop.

For the rest of this group it looks more difficult. Jernade Meade signed from Arsenal but he hasn’t played and with two good left backs in front of him it’s unlikely he’s going to go any further. Situ maybe retained if the club think he’s got any development left in him but that seems improbable given that he’s never played for the first team.

That leaves the two Welsh players, Lucas & Alfei. The future looks fairly bleak for both of them as they have only played one game each for the club and with the Premier League being so competitive they may not get a further chance to make it at Swansea.

Tottenham

  1. Cameron Lancaster
  2. Ryan Fredericks
  3. Ezekiel Fryers
  4. Erik Lamela
  5. Christian Eriksen
  6. Tom Carroll
  7. Cristian Ceballos

It’s a little unpredictable which players Spurs will keep; they tend to keep more players than they need and then loan out the ones they don’t want. In saying that it’s clear they’ll retain Fryers, Lamela and Eriksen. It’s also likely they’ll keep Tom Carroll but again they may loan him out next season to let him develop futher.

It seems for Ceballos and Lancaster it maybe the end of the road at Tottenham. Ceballos is on loan in Portugal and it’s going to be hard for him to break into the first team. Lancaster has virtually no chance being stuck on the outside of the Spurs squad and not being out on loan.

Ryan Fredericks is the in-between player who has been on the bench in the Europa League yet he’s hardly played any first team football. He’s got half a chance but next season maybe on loan at a club like Swindon to see how he progresses.
