What’s really fascinating about this group is simply how frugal Eddie Howe has been. They just haven’t spent massive money to get this promotion. It’s been all about careful selection of players to play in a certain way allied with good preparation & coaching. The Bournemouth manager has done a wonderful job with his recruitment.

What will help them as they go up to the Premier League is their style of play. They will have slightly more time on the ball in the higher division which they can use. If as a club they can get the right recruitment this summer then they could do well. They definitely need another striker to give them another option and depth but the basics are there. They need a goalkeeper as well as Boruc has been on loan so that’s a position they will want to cover.

In January they bid big money for Demarai Gray. Going up a division he’s the type of player you could imagine them purchasing, a player of potential who Howe can develop and fit into his system. They may not be able to get Gray this summer but it will be interesting to see who they buy as they challenge to stay in the Premier League.

Harry Arter cost £4,000 not £123,000.
